244.192 signatures support UN Campaign
Vattenfall’s Climate Manifesto was launched in 2008 to show the public support for a positive outcome at COP15. We asked people in Vattenfall’s markets to sign the Manifesto which asserted the need for:
- A global price on carbon dioxide emissions
- More support for climate friendly technologies
- Implementation of climate requirements for products
Almost a quarter of a million signed, and every signature became a symbolic figure. The figures went on a tour of Europe from Brussels to Poznan, places where the worlds leading decision makers met to discuss climate issues. The events in 7 major cities, clearly visualised the massive public support to bring about a positive decision on the climate at COP 15 in Copenhagen.
In September over 244.192 signatures from the Manifesto joined forces with Seal the Deal , a UN worldwide campaign aiming to remind the world leaders that they are required to negotiate an effective and fair agreement at the COP15.
